It produces wines with high acidity, firm tannins, and flavors of red fruits, herbs, and spice, often showing more rustic characteristics when young. Mazuelo thrives in hot, dry climates and is commonly used as a blending component in wines from Rioja (Spain), Priorat (Spain), and the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France.
