Goriška Brda
Goriška Brda is a hilly wine region in western Slovenia bordering Italy's Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, often called the 'Tuscany of Slovenia'. The region benefits from a unique microclimate with Mediterranean, Alpine, and continental influences, producing primarily white wines from indigenous varieties like Rebula (Ribolla Gialla), as well as international varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, and Merlot. Goriška Brda is particularly renowned for its mineral-driven white wines with excellent aging potential, and has become Slovenia's most internationally recognized wine region.
