Cahors

Cahors is a historic wine region in southwestern France, situated along the Lot River about 160km east of Bordeaux. The region is renowned for its deeply-colored, tannic red wines made predominantly from the Malbec grape (locally called Côt or Auxerrois), which must constitute at least 70% of the blend, often complemented by Merlot and Tannat. Cahors wines, historically known as 'Black Wine' due to their intense color, typically exhibit robust flavors of dark fruits, licorice, and earthy notes, with significant aging potential.
