Mas fi Cava Brut Description
Sometimes the best surprises come in the most unassuming packages, and this Cava is a perfect example of Spanish sparkling wine punching well above its weight class. The Masachs Family owns 43 hectares of grapes planted with Macabeo, Xarel · lo, and Parellada in El Penedès, approximately 40 km south of Barcelona, where they benefit from the Mediterranean air and are protected against northern cold winds by the Montserrat mountain range. What started as Josep Masachs Llorach producing just enough for his own consumption and sharing with close friends has evolved into something that makes Champagne lovers do a double-take at the price tag.
This isn’t trying to be something it’s not – it’s proudly Spanish, proudly affordable, and proudly delicious. Undergoing second fermentation in the bottle, just like Champagne, it is aged for 10 months, which provides its fine bubbles and a complex, structured palate. The silky mousse and light effervescence make this a perfect quaff for summer, though honestly, it works for any season when bubbles are called for. Whether someone needs an aperitif, wants to celebrate Tuesday, or feels like adding some sparkle to dinner, this Cava delivers all the joy of good sparkling wine without the ceremony – or the Champagne price tag.
